Victoria City Hall – 2nd Floor Complete

April 5, 2013 – The second floor of the Victoria City Hall renovation has recently been completed. The upgrades to this area of the building include improvements to the customer service desks, offices and meetings spaces for the Planning & Development and Engineering departments that occupy level 2 of the building. St. Joseph’s Elementary School – Renovation & Expansion

The St. Joseph’s Elementary School is undergoing an extensive renovation and expansion. The first phase of construction consists of a single storey, 10 classroom addition comprising of 1,130 square meters. The project also includes site works, playground relocations, a new playfield and seismic upgrading to the existing school building. Targeted completion of phase one is December 2013. Victoria, B.C, 2013/2014.

March 15, 2013 – The Roman Catholic Diocese of Victoria celebrated their Ground Breaking Ceremony on March 8th to kick off construction for the St. Joseph’s expansion and seismic upgrade project. The expansion will amalgamate two island catholic elementary schools: St. Joseph’s and St. Andrew’s. The first phase of construction consists of single storey, 10 classroom addtion comprising of approximately 1,130 square meters and is slated for completion in December 2013.

Royal Roads University – Life Safety Project

The Life Safety Projects at Royal Roads University was comprised of two separate projects enhancing the safety of staff, students and faculty. The Life Safety Civil Works project consisted of upgrades to campus roads, associated drainage and construction of pedestrian pathways; and the Fire Alarm project established a centralized, integrated fire alarm and mass notification system throughout the campus .

The Victoria Airport Circulation Security Concessions project consists of re-configuring of the pre-board screening and retail areas in the Air Terminal Building at the Victoria International Airport. The scope of the project includes, on the exterior, a new vertical circulation core, a holdroom addition on the second floor and a new daylight feature; and in the interior, modifications for security, concessions and general upgrades.

Victoria City Hall Renovations and Alterations

The Victoria City Hall original built in 1878 is undergoing an extensive renovation. The project generally consists of renovations and alterations to the City Hall main and 2nd floors to improve customer service, occupant life safety and accessibility. Improvements include demolition and hazardous material abatement, replacement of vertical access systems, completion of seismic upgrading, customer service upgrades, reorganization of staff work areas and new fire protection system/ fire alarm upgrade.

The improvements to the 2nd floor administration areas have been completed and the next phase of renovating the main floor and customer service areas is underway. Victoria, B.C, 2012/ 2013.

Victoria Airport – Circulation Security Concessions

Durwest currently is out to tender on this project and anticipate starting construction in October 2012.

Garyali Architects Inc have also designed to include site works, playground relocations, a playfield and seismic upgrading of the existing school building. A construction start is currently targeted for early 2013.

Royal Roads University – Life Safety Project

Durwest has been engaged by Royal Roads University as project managers for the Life Safety Project at the historic campus. The project has a tight timeline with a March 2013 completion. The project includes a civil component as well as a campus wide fire alarm and mass notification system upgrade for which Durwest have been appointed as Project Managers for both.

Songhees Wellness Centre

The Songhees Wellness Centre is 3 storey concrete, structural steel and glue laminated structure, approximately 4500 square meters with the intended use of a recreation and a wellness centre. The multi-use facility will include a full size gymnasium, conference facilities, administration and education offices and a health centre. This LEED Silver targeted building will have an approximate construction schedule of 22 months. Construction value of $20,000,000 and a completion date of December 2013.
